David Villa is set to be offered a four-year contract by Barcelona at
the same time as Valencia mull over a bid that could total around €45
million for their star striker, according to a report in
AS.
The
striker is still on international duty with Spain in South Africa and
admits that he does not know anything new because he has asked to be
kept out of things until he returns.
El Mundo Deportivo
believe that Barca will be ready with a lucrative contract and,
although Villa claims he has yet to decide, the deal is all but
completed.
"When all is said and done I am calm. It is true that
I have been through a tough week, like I have said before," Villa is
quoted as saying.
"I think that could partly be my fault because
of the way things went and because I came out here unable to say
anything more and had to try and focus.
"I have spent five days
without talking about my future. I have not read anything in the papers
and I cannot give it any importance.
"I do not know where I will
be next season. I have a contract with Valencia and last week the last
news I heard was that the club wanted me to stay unless a very big
offer was made.
"I do not know what has happened since, whether there have been changes, because I have not wanted to know anything.
"From
Sunday onwards I will rest with my family and then I will speak to the
club and see what they want and from there decide what is to do.
"For
a long time I have stated that my dream is to play my entire career in
the Spanish league because it is the one that I am suited to and is
best for my characteristics.
"This is not a new thing, it is something that I have always maintained."
