About Didi's punishment, I suppose it is fair, cos he did behave badly, I can understand why he did what he did, but the blind referee is no excuse for behaviour like that.  I am still a bit pissed though that the referee gets away with all that he did or rather didn't do. Angry  No justice dammit.  The sooner video technology is brought into football the better.

Spain woah only 1-0 that was a shock, I did not expect it to be that close at all!! Surprise  Oh well a win is a win!!  Keep going Spain - win the Cup!!!!

Video technology if used should only be for whether or not the ball crosses the goal line. It would be ridiculous, if it was used for every controversial decision, the game would be too stop/start.The referees human error and the post match debate that goes with it is all part of the game, decisions for and against teams usually even themselves out over a season.

Ah good point Albion, although maybe they could have a challenge system like in tennis, where the captain of the teams gets to decide when to use the technology. Huh?  But for sure video technology should be brought in to see if the ball crosses the line!!

I just heard today that David Villa is the second highest goalscorer for Spain. Big Smile  How awesome is that?  Gosh so happy for him!!!  Congrats to Villa!!  And apparently he has scored 18 goals in 18 games!!!  Just outstanding!!  He has to come to Chelsea please!!!!!!!  I was watching Sky Sports news last night and they said that he has decided where he wants to go, which club, and I spent about 45 minutes waiting for them to expand on that headline and they just kept talking about golf! Indifferent  Understandably I got bored of waiting, but I really hope he has decided to join Chelsea gosh I want him to join soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!!

    England U21 2-0 Spain U21

    By Jonathan Stevenson

    Fraizer Campbell
Campbell came off the bench to set England on the road to victory

Fraizer Campbell and James Milner struck second-half goals to see off Spain and send England Under-21s into the European Championship semi-finals.

Campbell capitalised on a defensive mistake to turn Javi Garcia and hammer a left-foot shot in from 18 yards.

Milner wrapped it up by slotting in after stunning work down the left from Theo Walcott, who came off the bench.

Milner had earlier seen a penalty brilliantly saved by Sergio Asenjo, but it did not prove costly for England.

Spain were disappointing throughout, a poor imitation of the senior side that has swept all before them over the past couple of years.

England could even afford to be without Walcott for the first hour, manager Stuart Pearce taking the controversial decision to leave him on the bench with Adam Johnson starting down the left.

Pearce was delighted to see his side - who reached the semis of the same tournament two years ago - reach the last four with a group game to spare.

"I'm pleased we're through, but I'm not surprised because I know the character of these boys and it was a gutsy performance," said Pearce.

"It was a great reaction from Theo - but for me it wasn't even a big decision. Getting over the finishing line is what's important and he helped us to do that with a virtuoso performance from the bench.

"Even though it's his birthday today, Fabio Capello phoned me straight after and wanted me to pass on his congratulations to the players."

Johnson linked up well with the lively Kieran Gibbs in the early stages, but there was little of interest happening elsewhere on the pitch.

Until, that is, Nedum Onuoha decided to spark some interest by bizarrely over-hitting a backpass that Joe Hart had to race back and, on the slide, kick off the line in order to spare his team-mate's blushes.

Once that danger was averted England were largely untroubled, with Spain's Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic again hugely disappointing and the creative Jurado badly suffering from a lack of support.

England should have been in front just after the half-hour mark, as Spain gave the ball away in midfield and Milner raced into the area, tricking his way past Javi Garcia and falling as the defender caught his trailing leg.

Milner picked himself up and dusted himself down to take the penalty, only to see Sergio Asenjo dive away to his right and superbly claw the ball away from his net.

But England continued to probe for an opening and, five minutes after Walcott replaced Johnson, they got their breakthrough.

Another Spanish mistake gifted possession to Campbell 25 yards out and he kept his composure expertly to cut inside Javi Garcia and lash past Sergio Asenjo.

Six minutes later and it was all over, Walcott showing an extraordinary turn of pace to race down the left and pull the ball back for Milner to convert.

Pearce's men now face Germany on Monday in Halmstad in their last group game, with the semi-finals to be played on Friday 26 June.

Party!!!  Keep going guys!!! Big Smile

    Man Utd announce Tevez departure

    Carlos Tevez
Tevez will not be playing at Old Trafford in a United shirt again

Manchester United have confirmed that Carlos Tevez is leaving the club.

United were willing to pay the £25.5m to turn the striker's two-year loan move into a permanent five-year deal but Tevez, 25, has decided to move on.

"Disappointingly, his advisors informed the club that he does not wish to continue playing for Manchester United," read a United statement.

"The club thanks Carlos for his services over the last two seasons and wishes him good luck for the future."

Tevez became a fans favourite during his time at the Old Trafford club and helped the side win the last two Premier League titles as well as the 2008 Champions League trophy.

But he has joined Cristiano Ronaldo in exiting the club, with his final appearance being as a substitute in United's loss to Barcelona in the 2009 Champions League final.

United said they were willing to make Tevez "one of its highest paid players" but were told by the Argentine's advisors, who own the player's economic rights, that he would not be accepting the offer of their deal.

Manchester City are now favourites to sign him but he has also been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool.

City's financial clout makes them the frontrunners as their manager Mark Hughes tries to put together a squad capable of challenging the top four of United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Tevez has scored 15 goals last season but was frustrated at his lack of first-team football and was wary of the issue ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

And, despite the affection of United's fans, he has reportedly complained of a lack of respect from the club and his treatment at their hands.

Tevez's adviser Kia Joorabchian recently explained that United's failure to sign his client up permanently last summer and in January 2009 were behind Tevez's complaints.

His departure now leaves United manager Sir Alex Ferguson without two of his most influential players - in Tevez and Ronaldo - of recent seasons.

Wigan midfielder Antonio Valencia has been linked with a move to United as the club try to replace the duo.

Indifferent  OMG he's being linked with Chelsea noooo!!  Man City FFS sign him or Liverpool!!  And Villa please join Chelsea grrrrr!!!

US advances to Confederations Cup semis

RUSTENBURG, South Africa (AP)—Outplayed by Italy and Brazil, the U.S. soccer team once again was on the verge of first-round elimination from a big international tournament.

To reach the semifinals of the Confederations Cup, the Americans needed to beat Egypt by at least three goals while the world champion Italians lost to Brazil by at least three.

    Astronomical odds, right?

    Well, advance they did.
