Re: Your fans support you in Wimbledon 2009.

Sharapova is always well dressed even during tournaments.

She really looks like a Tsarina or queen of tennis in her white coat.

Maria Sharapova of Russia waves to the crowd after victory during the women's singles first round match against Viktoriya Kutuzova of Ukraine on Day One of the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on June 22, 2009 in London, England.

"Keep on working hard, and your dreams — such a great thing — will come true," Kwan said "A lot of my dreams came true."

Yuri Yudkin, 73, was Maria's first coach when she was 4-7. He said. "[Maria] was a very smart girl . . . I never had to repeat instructions twice to her."

SHARAPOVA: HAPPY THAT SAFINA NUMBER ONE

SHARAPOVA: HAPPY THAT SAFINA NUMBER ONE

Yesterday the Wimbeldon-2004 champion, Russian Maria Sharapova won her first match at the tournament against the Ukrainian Viktoria Kutuzova – 7:5, 6:4.

The relations of Maria Sharapova and organizers of Wimbledon and the journalists are like ones among old friends. For whom else being number 60 in WTA standings a press conference would be arranged two days before the start of the tournament?

First of all Maria had to answer questions about women’s tennis and sexuality but after a victory over Kutuzova who advanced to the main tournament through the qualification all such questions disappeared.

"I had a very strong opponent," said Sharapova. "She knows a lot about how one should play on grass."

"She started very well but probably it was too hard to Viktoria to maintain such a high level throughout the whole match."

"In Birmingham I said that I had some time to straighten my serve but I don’t know how much time I need. If I knew I would not probably come here and sat at home waiting for the required time."

"I feel that every played match is doing me good. When you play on different surfaces you have to get used to every court. But I think that at the moment I move quite well on grass."

"I lost footing twice during the match while the grass was wet in several places. Nice I used to do gymnastics when I was a child. I usually don’t fall down on grass but it happened today maybe because it was the first match."

"I am very much happy about Dinara Safina. Recently she shows very good results and is confident of her power. And she advanced to the Roland Garros final already being number one on the standings."

"It shows that she keeps her form on the highest level. I remember last year after Australian Open she on the contrary suffered many defeats."

That doesn't sound like something Maria would say. Not the comment but the way it's spoken. Hmm

It's translated from a Russian source. Take any Russian article, including quotations--run 'em through an online translator & that's about the way it will all sound. Distinctive speech traits disappear when trying to approximate the Russian syntax. Geeked

Sharapova always does her best to win.

Sharapova always does her best to win each match. Today she lost a match. I think success has no rules, but you can learn a lot from a failure. She is not ready today to win this tournament. She will improve her tennis in future tournament when she will have a better health. Pro Sport destroys easily the health of best athletes. God bless Sharapova.

Golden words of Sharapova: She promises to do her best to improve her tennis. She needs some time to improve her tennis. She has will power. We wish her happiness and success.

Nadia Petrova has avenged Argentines Gisela Dulko for kicking her compatriot Maria Sharapova out of the competition in the previous pound. A tight game saw the Russian claiming a 6-3 3-6 6-4 win.

Another Russian player Elena Vesnina cruised to victory in a game against Dominika Cibulkova 7-5 4-6 6-4.

I normally support players who beat Maria. I like how they say "Maria lost to the eventual champion". Stick out tongue

Re: best tennis of Sharapova/ a young and strong athlete

During these tournaments, Sharapova only tested her tennis after a long lay-off for shoulder injuries. What is more important for her in life?

    1)    Her health

    2)    Her tennis career

    3)    Other activities in life

She also has to be sure that her shoulder is not going to cause her trouble in future match.

Ummmm this time I think it is her health. Her health is the cause of all her trouble in tennis.

If she had a strong shoulder, she would not have a lay off and her tennis would be perfect.

Before I said that  tennis players should have a strong body, you can't be a model and a tennis player at the same time. The conditions are different. If you want to be a model you need to be slim but if you want to be a good tennis player you need a strong body with good muscles, if you don't have this body you will have health trouble in the future or you won't be good enough.  pro sport or intensive sport destroys also easily the athletes health.  You see the famous Tiger Wood has also a trouble with his knee even if he is still the best player in the world.
