Hi, rozmary. Welcome to the forum. No one knows, not even her just yet--that's why her name stays on tournament player lists, just in case. So: no earlier than Zurich--probably not until the YEC in Doha in November. Maybe not until the Hong Kong exhibition after the first of the year.

It's official now rozmary: Maria won't play anymore this year. She will play, as Paul said, in an exhibition in Hong Kong next year in January.

Any chance? Maybe a slim one.  As an official statement, deciding to "put a wrap on the season" could be construed as just slightly vague. One could speculate that the door is left open for a possible surprise.

But that would assume Maria, without playing more tournaments, remained in the top eight. (We're talking race points here, remember, not rankings.) At Stuttgart & Moscow, Kuzi will certainly pass her and probably Venus as well. If Vera Z comes on strong, Maria could drop to number nine in the race & thus qualify only as first alternate.

Bottom line: She probably would have to first jump back in at Zurich and/or Linz in order to qualify. If they've decided to "wrap the season", that's pretty much out.
