Like everyone says, hate is a strong word. I don't dislike her or like her, she simply isn't on my radar. When she wins something big then I'll take notice. But I have to agree the media puts her in the same league as Maria which is simply not the case. But I can't hate a person like her because she works hard and is dedicated which is always good in my book. i have one question though, did she really spit oncourt coz Kiefer does that and I think that's disgusting, I always feel sorry for the ballboys when they have to clean that up in front of the camera too. For a woman, it's twice as disgusting, sorry if I'm being sexist.

I dunno if she spat, but I hear you. Watching wimbledon Live last year, I saw a babe from Minsk do stuff on court that grown men have been thrown outta bars for. The very proper All England Club ump's posture just screamed,  This is why I hate chairing Juniors! lol!

I don't dislike Ana. beni nailed it: The problem is the sports media that victimizes players for reasons that are purely political--both in terms of the business of the game and the larger politics. Like the misbegotten notion that they can somehow "use" the Serbs "against" the Russians. Yeah, says way more about where the media is coming from than it does about the players.

me neither I don't hate Ana, it's true that "HATE" is peharps a too strong word to use but I'm not her fan either. Paul said it right about the media. They can be real bad sometime!!

Hate???  I have to congratulate you,because this is the stupidest thing I have read on this forum! How can you hate someone if you don't know him in personal??? 

You can like or not any player you want,but it is stupid and  to hate Maria's opponents!That is even a little primitiveness!

about the media thing; with allot of positive atention must come some negative one to, i guess.

"haters" are sayng that Ana was overmediated just to find some reason why she has so much fans lately, but the truth is most of the media is atracted to her just like her fans are.  some people even like to belive some stupid false things that they hear or read, or to misinterpret things about her; like she is fake and she strives for atention; this is not Hollywood, she doesn't need lights, cameras -just action; you don't need to be her fan to know that.  Ana recently won the Sportsmanship award(wich was voted by the players) and Most improved player in 2007 WTA tour(as she won it in 2006 to), and facts say that she was voted most beautiful payer on the WTA tour for 2 or 3 years in a row, so i guess she's not a average player.

let's face it, Ana is the new "IT" girl in tennis right now and some people can't live with that.  they need to grow up.

dude, what did you smoke? i watch most of her matches and i never saw her using the towel to blow her nose...   Even my mother says Ana is one of the most elegant players out there, and if my mother makes a compliment it must be true AND ANA DOESN'T SPIT ON THE COURT! so why do you have to post silly things like this? jeez...

 

Hate just is wrong, i don't like some players but i don't hate them! specially when they are really nice... i do understand why you might not like her cos i don't like many nice people, but hate??

yeah i agree w/ u david.. I love masha and i like ana i. coz they are nice and great on court..but david, may i ask u? in Ana's forum don't u hate masha? err,,,i just read on that forum how they describe masha..but then im not surprised to see some people wanna pull down the rising person, is that an insecurity to masha or just nothing?

As fans of Maria we should spend our time talking about her.

Problem is that a noticable portion of "Ana's press" does not have to do solely with her, now does it? The sort that gushes, Ana is so (fill in the blank)... not like that awful Russian... Oh, there are usually a phrase or two in-between so the writer/mouthpiece has deniability, but the connection is visible to anyone.

I heard, during AO: The Aussies love Ana--they're really gonna turn on Sharapova... In short, the media who are always on the hunt for someone they can exploit against Maria. Remember not so long ago when Nicole was "the next Sharapova"?  That one didn't work out either.

How 'bout JJ? More consistent player than Ana, hot in a vampy way (can sell high-end cars, so that's hot enough) has way more history & more property in the US than Ivanovic. Well, they do try to use her but they're ver-y careful in her case--I think because JJ and her people don't co-operate with that crap past a point.

Ana and some of her fans may need to learn that accepting such dubious applause is a slippery slope. One who is fond of Ana should be troubled by those associations, because they do not end well.

On another thread somewhere I posted to assure you that the animus toward some of Ana's fans was not directed at you. In no message have I said I disliked Ana or discussed anything about relations between her and Maria. So you're jumping at the wrong dude here.

OTOH, if you just don't like the facts I raise about media manipulations, tough.

from what u are saying paul the press in US must rly suck.  i think in general is not that bad, allthough Maria and Ana are sometimes compared but not in a disrespectful way. you making it sound like the press is actualy turning on Maria, or maybe that's just me...

Beautifull and not very fair play... Ivanovic just keeps squikking her feets on the court just before the opponents serve and that's the quite one thing I dislike her for, I don't know why she does that and most players doesn't like it... There was a time I really hated Ivanovic now I more tend to dislike her less anyway since she keeps losting to maria everything is allright
